The Land Relationships Super Collective is a both fun and serious collective of collectives focused on decolonizing and healing relationships to land. We are a collective for Indigenous-led, Black-led and Black-Native-led community organizations who are committed to exchanging land education skills and strategies through visitations and research-practice partnerships.
We gather yearly to visit a collective’s place-home, to plan, discuss pressing issues, share meals, and occasionally, host karaoke. These visitations are opportunities to receive and contribute place-specific advice and strategies for rematriation. Throughout the year, we record what we call ‘somewhere recordings’ to support our ongoing discussions about land efforts. These voice recordings typically describe the work we’re doing, the connections between our work, and our relationships, histories, and futures in relation to these places.
We also collaborate to design research projects that support the ongoing work of the participating organizations, as well as our collective understanding and learning about land back and rematriation. We have developed curriculum and materials for land education programs for youth and communities. We have also created a community archive of stories about the different approaches to the return of Indigenous land. Learn more about our activities here.
